The room
All I knew or could feel was that I cared about people.
I wanted people to know that they mattered;
That this life is worth caring about.
I want them to wake up acknowledging that they got another day. Understanding that in itself is a big deal--- cause somebody didn’t wake up today
I want people to see themselves through Gods eyes
To walk in a room and know that they are that one, while everyone else that one too
Some may think I’m talking only about confidence, but it’s not just that.
It’s one thing to be confident. It’s another to remain confident in a room with other confident people. And when we don’t meet one another’s confidence with competition, but rather we see it as a thing to appreciate, something to acknowledge and admire while remaining confident in ourselves , we then have shifted the room.
It no longer is a room where everyone’s looking for the one who out did them all, it becomes the room where we all got to exist
The room where we simply exist is the room worth staying in
Part 2
The room where we simply exist is the room where we learn
The room where we simply exist is the room where we engage in dialogue
We debate, we laugh, we cry we may even yell but we know that this room
This room is where we are naked, we are us, they are them and we kick it gaily knowing that in this room the veil is lifted and the representatives are in for the night.
The accents flow, Afros rise high in the sky and the music goes from Luther, to Beyoncé, Paramore to Avril Lavigne, the temptations to Nina Simone hell might even throw in Elton John for a little razzle dazzle …
This room…
This room holds the greats, it’s comprised of the next one’s up, the ones already here, the ones that came and went , the ones that have not yet arrived
This room is where I wanna be.
